I am a certified Health and Life Coach with a background in Psychology (BS) and Biomedical Sciences (PhD). I have a decade of experience in preclinical and clinical research in the realms of nutritional interventions, psychedelics, and psychiatric disorders. (View my publications here.) My biggest strength as a coach is my knack for connecting with people in a way that makes them feel understood and empowered, my second biggest strength is my ability to weave intellect and intuition together.
Although I was trained in a Western medical framework, I have dedicated a lot of time to learning about ancient systems from the West (Greek) and East (TCM and Ayurveda) as well as traditional and folk medicine (like herbalism and Cajun healers—traiteurs). I personally use a holistic approach to health in my own life. All systems have value and truth and all have limitations, I view them as tools for understanding and working with health and life. For example, Western medicine is powerful for treating acute infections, emergency medicine, and broken bones; while the wisdom held in more ancient philosophies provides powerful guidelines for preventative medicine and reversing chronic diseases of aging that are caused by the American diet and lifestyle.
I believe relationship is the foundation of health, and health is the pathway to vitality, personal power, and freedom. The way we relate to our bodies, movement, food, friends, family, strangers, nature (literally everything) informs and is informed by our health and energetic state; i.e. health and the way we relate to things are bidirectionally related. This means that we can cultivate health and vitality by cultivating healthy relationships. The best news is that healthy relationship is nourishing for all parties involved.. there is equal give and take, and in that way, what makes us healthy also contributes to the wellbeing of everyone and everything around us. This is the way the world works energetically, chemically, and biologically. We are NOT closed systems, we are interconnected with the entire world. This is the aspect of medicine the Western biomedical paradigm often glosses over, but that is recognized and put to practice in ancient and traditional medicine disciplines throughout the world. This is the paradigm that underlies my offerings.
Disconnection, poor boundaries, and sabotage undermine all relationships in our lives. Interestingly, disconnect and poor boundaries are related; we often disconnect, because we lack the boundaries needed to give and take without depleting or overwhelming ourselves or others. Sabotage is a tricky and elusive but wise force, and learning to recognize those patterns and harness the wisdom while letting go of the unbridled destruction that out-of-balanced sabotage causes is powerful work. Connecting, learning to understand and fortify our biological and psychological boundaries, and learning to wield sabotage responsibly can make deep and lasting impacts in all realms—our diet, movement, relationships, daily cycles—and ultimately our health and life. My offerings are particularly good for increasing connection, fortifying boundaries, and learning to make sabotage work for you and not against you.
I can guide you and help you with all the basic health and life coaching stuff— diet, rhythms, exercise, relationships, etc., AND I can also help you go deeper, get to the root causes, help you to shift the way you do things. I can help you create routines, systems, and habits that support you and fit your life, and that don’t get lost through the ups and downs and seasons.
